Schroat of Dalton City and Tom Schroat of Mt. Zion; and many beloved nieces and nephews, whose company brought her tremendous joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Holmes and Ruby Schroat; and nephew, Brian Schroat.
Though Maxine’s earthly journey has come to an end, her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her legacy of faith, kindness, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Jesse enjoyed the thrill of fast cars, especially his blue Pontiac GTO, cheering on the Fighting Illini Basketball and being a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan.  He was always happy to help friends and family in need of his knowledge in of purchasing new tires and a birthday never went by without receiving a card from him on your special day.  In his younger years, he also enjoyed bowling, and fishing. He will be remembered by family and those whose lives he touched throughout the years. A private graveside service is being planned for a later date. Bertha is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Edith Law, Brother Clarence Jr Law, and sister Alberta Jean Law,
Bertha is survived by her daughter Tammy Smith (Chris Smith, husband), granddaughter, Ashley Howard (Levi Howard, husband) and three great grandchildren Emma, Brooklynn, and Lilly Howard. Sister's Nora Law, Mary Lou Allgood, and Lawanda Allen. Brother's Tom Law and William Law(adopted).
Burial will be held on November 13, 2026 at 11am, at Elm Cemetery, Litchfield, IL.
Bertha was a strong and wise woman and she will be very much missed and loved by all. We miss her so dearly.
