Ricky Cathers

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Ricky “Rick” Ray Cathers on January 24, 2025 at the age of 59. Rick was born on May 31, 1965 to Ray and Trudy Cathers, in Belleville, Illinois.

Rick married the love of his life, Melissa (Jones) Cathers on May 5, 1990. They enjoyed spending time together and raising their family for over 38 years. They traveled many places, went camping, fishing, and enjoyed taking weekend drives together. He loved being with his children and grandchildren, and always expressed his great love for them. He made sure each of them knew they were his world.

He had a deep love and faith in God, reading his bible and praying every day.

He also enjoyed spending time with his lifelong friends. They fished, camped, hunted, had many laughs, and made many cherished memories.

Rick will always be remembered for his kind and humorous personality. He was readily available for anyone in need, with a cheerful and giving heart.

Rick was proceeded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Randy and Chuck Cathers.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Melissa, three daughters, Jamie (Nathan) Workman, Krista (Tyler) Cochran, and Anjelia (Dylan) Dominguez, and six grandchildren; Kaedin, Tinley, Asher, Tripp, Avery, and Max. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, family and close friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Central Cremation Center in Forsyth Illinois.

A Memorial Service will be held on Rick’s 60th birthday, Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Bowers Cemetery, Alsey, Illinois. Time will be announced later.
