Karen (Mokey) Copeland

Karen (Mokey) Copeland passed away peacefully at her home in Decatur, IL., on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was born in Mattoon, IL., on May 9, 1950, to Alberta and Bonnie McMillan. She married the love of her life, Steven W. Copeland on February 15,1969. They had four children; Kimberly Copeland of Decatur, IL., Wilhelmina – Willie -(David) Ozier of Bloomington, IL., Skyler (Rachel) Copeland of Maplewood, MN., and Joseph (Christie) Copeland of East Peoria, IL.

Karen was blessed with eleven beautiful grandchildren and two great granddaughters, seven sisters and three brothers. Her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters greeted her at the gates of heaven.

Karen was an Eisenhower High school graduate and then took classes at Illinois Central College. She worked at Montgomery Ward in Peoria, IL., until they closed the doors forever, and then went to work at CB Accounts.

She treated everyone she worked with like family. She liked to collect Betty Boop and panthers, and she loved making candy and cookies for Christmas to give everyone. Karen will be sorely missed by many!

There will be a Celebration of Life for Karen Copeland on Monday, July 28 from 1-3pm at Maroa City Hall, 120 S Locust, Maroa.
