Raymond Turner

Raymond Leroy Turner passed away Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, at his home at the age of 66. He was born January 12, 1959, in Jacksonville, Illinois to Jeanette Marie Turner (Tongate). He was raised in rural Macoupin County by his mother with the help of his Grandma and Grandpa Turner, which proceeded him in death. He wasn’t much on being told what to do so school was cut short and his time as a United States Marine even shorter. Although, he would have been the best drill sergeant of all time. He spent 66 years giving life lessons to each person he encountered.

He is survived by his companion of many years, Patricia Sue Stevens, children: Zachary (Jessica)Turner- Ray (Katie) Turner- Stephanie (Rusty) Menge- Jessie Manning- Kyle (Terra) Turner- Danielle (Micheal) Collins- Leslie (Brandon) Turner. Grandchildren *great grandchildren, Savannah (Devon) *Nathan Killen- Hailea, Zachary & Alivia Turner- Layla & Olyvar Turner- Ashley *Thea, Shane (Molli) *Bextyn *Cooper, Ruger (Katie) & Gracee Menge- Eliza Manning- Kylee & Rylee Turner, Lincoln Collins- Breanna, Emilee, Lauren & Owen Burnight, sister, Nancy Ribble and brother David (Loretta) Tongate, many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

His larger-than-life persona and trademark stubbornness will never be forgotten. He was known by many as Dad, PaPa, Uncle Raymond, Enos, Raymo, Easy Money, and probably a few other names. He was one of a kind, a self-taught entrepreneur, bargainer, and collector of many things. No matter what you needed he either had it or he would get it. All he would need to know was how many do you want and how much do you want to spend. A man that was a true phone call away no matter what time, day or night. A simple obituary is not possible to write for a man that was like no other. He was proficient in curse words, hardheaded and the master of arguing. He could rub nickels together to make dollars and he could sell ice to Eskimo’s.

Central Cremation Center will conduct cremation rites. His final resting place will be in the window alongside his beloved dog, Jake. A celebration of life will be held in lieu of a funeral per his wishes. An emptiness has been created and will remain because there is no one that could ever be the same as Raymond —— Turner.

Family will join friends Saturday, September 20, 2025, for a potluck lunch at 1pm at The Emery Center in Franklin IL.
