Carole Ann Cundiff, 76, of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025 in her own home, surrounded by her family’s love. A private graveside ceremony will be held for her immediate family at noon on Friday, November 28, at Friend’s Creek Cemetery. A larger Celebration of Life gathering for extended family and friends will follow at the Friends Creek Community Center in Argenta from 3-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Good Samaritan Inn, Growing Strong Sexual Assault Center, or the local EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Chapter 274. It was with these organizations that Carole did a majority of her volunteer service throughout her life. Carole Ann was born on February 3,1949, in Decatur, IL to James Pierce Jr. and Cecilia Eloise (Hays) Wright. Carole attended St. Thomas Grade School, Eisenhower High School, as well as Illinois State University. Carole’s banking career spanned more than 35 years with what began as Millikin National Bank and ended as Regions Carole’s favorite activities included spending much time with her very dear and beloved family members and friends. She enjoyed traveling with friends, going to see plays, and playing bunco. And she loved to read. But Carole was especially known by all who loved her as a very forgiving, inclusive and generous spirit. Carole is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Cooley of Clarkston, GA, and Valerie (Patrick) Taylor of Cold Spring, KY; her four bonus children: Brian (Cindy) Cundiff of Decatur, IL, Jeffery (Maria Nancy) Cundiff of Naples, FL; Cristine Cundiff of Peoria, AZ, and Megan Cundiff of Goodyear, AZ. Five grandchildren: Seraphina, Dillon, Carly, Lauren (David), Ethan and eight bonus grandchildren: Dustin, Kaysey, Rebecca, Vanessa, Connor, Elliya, Mason and Chaya. Her beloved siblings: Sheila (Larry) Tohill; Jeannie (Richard) Luster; Phyllis (Terry) Howley; Cindy Dean Kyburz; Vince (Laura) Wright; Sherry (Chad) McGuire; and Tina (Darryl) Coates. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Bob Cundiff, her parents Jim and Cil Wright, and her in-laws, Mike and Florence Cundiff.
