Thomas Alan "Tom" Georgeson

Thomas Alan “Tom” Georgeson, 75, passed away on January 24, 2026, in Decatur, Illinois. Born on April 5, 1950, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Tom lived a life marked by entrepreneurial spirit, deep family devotion, and a love for the outdoors.

Throughout his life, Tom wore many hats, each reflecting his drive and creativity. He built a successful career as an industrial tool salesman and later channeled his passion for business into several ventures of his own. Among them was a pizza place he proudly named after his granddaughter—a testament to the importance of family in every aspect of his life. He also owned and operated a landscaping business and played an instrumental role in supporting his daughter’s small business making dog treats.

Tom’s enthusiasm extended far beyond the workplace. He found joy in nature and spent countless hours camping, fishing, gardening, boating, water skiing, snowmobiling, and enjoying time at the beach. His home was filled with vibrant fish tanks; he was an avid fan of the Beatles and had a cherished collection of vintage McDonald’s toys—each item reflecting his playful side and appreciation for nostalgia. An avid racquetball player in earlier years, Tom remained active throughout his life.

Family was at the heart of everything Tom did. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Anita Kay; daughter Jennifer Vitacco (Pete), granddaughters Nico Vitacco and Madison Vitacco, siblings Ronald (Paula), Roxann (Jeff), Mary Therese (Scott), Tim (Mary) and numerous nieces and nephews. He took great pride in coaching his granddaughters in soccer, baseball, and tee-ball—moments that brought him immense joy.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Maryann Georgeson; sibling Rick Georgeson (Kathy), son Troy “Troche” Georgeson; daughter Michelle Czerechowicz and niece Sara Danz (Thomas).

May Tom’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all who were touched by his warmth, dedication, and enduring love for family.

A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at the Decatur Westside Church of the Nazarene, 788 North Sunnyside Road in Decatur, IL., 62522. The memorial service will be held on April 12, 2026, from 2-5pm.
