Richard L. McConnell, 67, of Taylorville passed away at Decatur Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones on January 20, 2024. He was born January 6, 1957 in Taylorville to Louis McConnell and Peggy Jackson. He was raised by Elmer and Bertha McConnell.
Richard loved to collect antiques. He enjoyed working on vehicles and small engines. He loved to be outdoors working in his yard. He loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren. He always tried to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed help working on their vehicles and anything else they may have needed.
Richard is survived by his significant other Annie Porter of Taylorville. He is survived by his children, Tammy (Gerald) Felton of Edinburg, James (Carrie) Rensman of Mechanicsburg, Kerri (Larry) Skinner of Taylorville, Jason McConnell of Pinckneyville, Rachael Hill (John Powers III) of Springfield, Jessie McConnell (Wade Bottoms), Brady McConnell both of Taylorville and step children Alyssa Woolsey and Trenton St. Clair of Taylorville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kevin Rensman, Jeremy ( Makayla) Felton, Cory Skinner, Dylan McConnell, Justin Felton, Jacob Felton, Madison Miller all of Taylorville, Arica Study (Devin Birckhead) of Burlington, Kansas, Khynlee McConnell, Lindsey Hill, Allison Hill all of Springfield, Elizabeth Rensman of Mechanicsburg, Travis Hill (Alyiah Rogers) of Edinburg, Tyler McConnell and Colin McConnell of Pinckneyville. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Leo, Major, Wynonna Miller of Taylorville, Mykle Birkhead of Burlington, Kansas, Andrew Koehne of Springfield, and Olivia Felton of Taylorville.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis McConnell and Peggy Jackson and Bertha and Elmer McConnell, and his step mother Lura McConnell. Five brothers, Gerald, Jerry, Jackie, Norman, and Vernon McConnell. Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Richard will be cremated with a celebration of life at a later date.
