On Monday, September 16th, Mary Elizabeth Davis, beloved wife and mother, passed away with her husband and three daughters by her side. She was 71 years old. Born to Thomas and Alice Pavelonis, Mary graduated from Niantic-Harristown High School and a day later married her high school sweetheart, Gregory Davis on June 5th, 1971. This summer they celebrated 53 years of marriage. They had three daughters, Valerie, Tammy and Erica.
Mary was extremely proud of her daughters and often stated “I have the most beautiful grandchildren”. She loved baking during the holidays and for everyone’s birthday always making their favorite dessert. She loved crochet and made many blankets for her daughters, grandchildren and friends she treated as family. Mary stayed at home while her girls were young and later worked as a bank teller and then as a secretary-receptionist for Macon Metal Products where she retired. She loved fishing and celebrating the holidays with her husband, canning, gardening, feeding and caring for her outside “critters” and watching the Hallmark Channel. Mary lived a life full of love. Her family and friends that she loved with all her heart and who have loved her so much for so many reasons, will miss her greatly. Her infectious, ornery sense of humor and even more so, her sweet and warm hugs, which she shared with everyone, will be missed the most!
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Dana Pavelonis, father and mother-in-law Albert and Doris Davis, and twin sister Margaret Michael. Mary is survived by her husband, Gregory Davis; daughters Valerie Davis (Mike Hinton), Tammy McNamara (Mike White); Erica Davis. She was so proud of all her grandchildren: Lynzi Beyers, Trevor and Tim Hinton; Madison, Sydney & Gavin McNamara; Evan Davis. She is also survived by her sister, Diane Gietl (Dan), brother-in-law, Jim Mayes, brother-in-law, Daniel Davis (Mitzi), sister-in-law’s, Karen Timmons, Karol Davis and Debbie Slifer (Dan). She also loved all her many nieces and nephews, and you would often see her sweet comments on their posts where she followed their families closely.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mary on Saturday, October 19th from 2pm – 5 pm at Bunkers Banquet Hall in Illiopolis, Illinois. 715 Old Rt 36, Illiopolis, IL 62539. |
