Arthur M. Nichols went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 10, 2025 at the age of 96.

Art was born on August 30,1929 in Bloomington, Illinois to Archie Nichols and Emma (Boswell) Nichols. He married Rose (Whalen) in 1956 in Decatur and together raised three children.

Art served in the Army during the Korean War. He was the owner/operator of Art’s Auto Repair in Decatur until his retirement. For most of his life, Art was a member of the Foursquare Church in Decatur where his parents began attending during his childhood.

Art built many lasting friendships over the years. Many during his garage years and many from church. He enjoyed each and every one so much. Art loved being a mechanic and he was a great one. His favorite pastime was being in a garage, albeit his own or anyone else’s. He also loved to just sit and talk with friends and family, especially if it involved coffee and dessert.

Art is survived by his wife of 68 years Rose, daughters Tina Niles of Mt. Zion and Diana (Harry) Pridemore of Decatur, grandsons Brandon (Mandy) Niles of Decatur and Bryan (Jessica) Niles of Maroa, great-grandchildren Addison, Brenna, Faith, and Annabelle.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wesley, sisters Reva Sutman and Lillian Agee, son Jimmie, son-in-law Terry Niles, granddaughter Lauren McNamara-Nichols, and great- grandson Dallas Niles.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
