Cassandra Lawton Koehne passed away in her home, in her favorite chair, following a very brief, incredibly brave battle with cancer, absolutely surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, David, and her three children Rob, Kate and Niklaus and their spouses Kate, Josh and Amie. She is also survived by her father Robert Lawton and his wife Virginia, and her brother Kevin Lawton and spouse Jackie.

She was preceded in death by her moth Shirley.

Her greatest joy remains her grandchildren Megan, Aubree, Aidyn and Lawton, and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Cassandra had many exceptional careers and causes in her long, generous life but will probably be remembered especially for her years of service as a mathematics teacher at Eisenhower High School in Decatur, IL.

Cassandra was fiercely intelligent, unrelentingly patient and inspirationally kind. Her legacy of unconditional love for her family and friends sets the bar very high for all of us as we mourn her passing.

A formal Celebration of Life will be held by her family in the weeks ahead, and informally every time we are together for the rest of our lives.
