Charlotte “Ellen” Garlock slipped peacefully into the arms of our Lord and Savior with her husband, children and a granddaughter at her side on Monday November 24, 2025.

Cremation handled by Central Cremation Center, Forsyth, Il.

She was born February 19, 1935, to Ebert and Charlotte (McClintock) Underhill in LeRoy, Il. She graduated in 1953 from LeRoy H.S. Ellen married the love of her life, Phillip D. Garlock October 8, 1954. They met at a party when Phil was there to collect money from Ellen’s cousin who had borrowed from Phil on their return from the Korean conflict. They recently celebrated 71 years together in October. They made their home in Arrowsmith Il. From 1954 to 2022 until moving to Pontiac, Il.

Family who will cherish her memory—husband Phil, children- Susan (Greg) Benjamin, Holder, IL, Linda (John) Schumacher, Clinton, IL. Greg (Missy) Garlock, Arrowsmith, Il. Grandchildren -Jake (Shari) Benjamin, Kristin (Brent) Golden, Katie Benjamin, Melissa Schumacher, Ryan (Caroline) Schumacher, Carly (Stephen) Field, Carson Schumacher, Cody (Madi) Shelton, Emma Garlock. Great grandchildren-Abby & Ally Benjamin, Nick & Jackson Golden, Ben and Sydney Hill, Donovan Field. As well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jack Underhill and in laws.

Ellen was a homemaker who also had various and retired as a cook from the Grade School in Arrowsmith. She was a member and active participant at the Arrowsmith Christian Church until their move to Pontiac. She was also a member of the American Legion. Ellen was an avid reader sharing books with her kids and good friend Janet Jones. She also liked crossword puzzles, sewing, cooking, baking, family gatherings and traveling on many adventures with her husband and family. She had a large collections of teddy bears that Phil and the kids help fill.

She was well loved by the staff at Evenglow and Tjardes Health Center. They say she never complained and always had a smile. We are grateful for their care. While we are filled with grief at her passing we are filled with love and gratitude for her life. We love you MOM! A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
