Darcy Hunter Barnes, 70, of Springfield, Illinois passed away June 24, 2025. She was born in Kewanee, Illinois on October 25, 1954, to parents Bruce and Shirley Hunter. Darcy graduated from Lanphier High School in 1972. She married Dennis Barnes on November 6, 1976, at Southside Christian Church, Springfield, Illinois.

Darcy worked at several doctor and hospital locations as the family moved following Dennis’ career. Her greatest passion was spending time with friends and family. Especially playing Queens at Aunt Doris Fishburn’s! She will be remembered for her warm smile and loving spirit.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Barnes. Sons Benjamin and Andrew Barnes, both of Springfield. Daughter Cassandra, husband Brad Attig of Loami, Illinois. And most precious of all, the grandchildren Audrey, Owen (Max) and Eleanor Attig.

Surviving siblings are Debi Erbes, husband Gene, Venice, Florida, Mark Hunter and Chris, wife Dawn Hunter of Springfield. Brother Jimmy Hunter and sister Kathy McCormick preceded her in death.

A private grave side service will be held later at Mechanicsburg Cemetery with Pastor Warren Brosi officiating. A celebration of life will follow for family and friends.
