Obituary for Darlene (Hittmeier) Hutchins
Darlene Hutchins died the afternoon of Monday,
December 26, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois
She was born on March 11,194l the daughter of Ray Hittmeier and Marguerite (Hart) Hittmeier at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, Illinois.
Darlene attended Mount Olive Elementary School and graduated from Mount Olive High school with the class of 1959. She attended SIU Carbondale for 2 years.
She married Dean Hutchins on March 23, 1962.
During her marriage to Dean Hutchins, she and Dean helped manage the Glades Restaurant in
Carlinville, Illinois. They later divorced.
She was employed by the State of Illinois until
her retirement. During her years working at the State of Illinois, she was the executive secretary for numerous Superintendent(s) of Illinois Department of Education.
Darlene was a kind and caring person. She was a talented seamstress and made clothes for many of her family members. She had a flair for decorating. She fulfilled her free time reading, drawing, painting pictures, working jigsaw puzzles, keeping up on current events, and vacationing with friends.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister aunt, and friend.
Survivors include her daughter, Kristen Kerri Moffitt of Springfield, Illinois, her grandchildren
Maggie Rae (Lucas) Santiago, and Zachary Wayne Moffitt of Carterville, Illinois, and one great-grandson Brewer Grae Moffitt of Champaign, Illinois.
Brothers John (Sharilyn) Hittmeier of Mount Olive, Illinois. Patrick (Brenda) Hittmeier of Red Lodge, Montana. Sisters Jennifer ( Dick) Burgett of Cave Creek Arizona, Laura( Chester) Greenwood of Atlantic, Beach Florida, Nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and one sister, Bonnie, in infancy. Aunts and Uncles, and
one nephew.
A celebration of Life was held at Arlington’s in Springfield, Illinois on April 1, 2023.
Darlene may be gone from this earthly life but she will always be loved, remembered, and missed.
