David L. Ellis (“Dave”) of Decatur, IL., passed away in his home on May 16, 2026, with his wife by his side.

Dave was born on April 18, 1935, the son of Auburn Ellis and Hazel Anderson Ellis. He was one of three children.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ed and sister Delores.

Dave married Sonja Kay Bruner on December 24, 1954. They were married 71 years. They have a son, David Ellis (Diane), daughter Debra Robinson (Ken), four grandchildren Matt Ellis, Megan Ellis, Jeremy Robinson and Debra Novota, six great-grandchildren Carlee, Emma, Violet, Emery, Harley and Wyatt James.

Dave worked as a building contractor and built many houses in the Decatur area.
