David Gene Painter, 62, of Decatur, IL., was received into the arms of Jesus on December 22, 2025, at The Loft of Rock Springs in Decatur, IL.

Celebration of Life will be Saturday, January 17, from 2-5pm at New Beginnings Church of God at 2606 North Route 121 in Decatur, IL.

He was born May 9, 1963, to Jack and Cecilia Painter. He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1982. He met and married Michelle Elise Bartlett of Decatur on September 26, 1987. David worked at Firestone in Decatur for 7 years and Des Moines, IA., for 20 years.

He was fun, loving, had a sense of humor and a loving spirit. He enjoyed time spent with the grandchildren as well as being outside and listening to the Beatles. David is survived by his wife Michelle, their daughter Amanda, 3 grandchildren: Jacob, Quentin and AnnElise, brother Eddie (Sue) Painter, sister Dottie Sowers, sister Joanie
McKinnon and husband Dean Etherton, sister Linda (Steve) Coppenbarger, Leon Painter, Diane Painter, Brenda (Leland) Hackl, Carol (Ron) Winn, Kathy (Jeff) Erlenbush and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
