Delores (Dee) Jane Rotz (née Zienkosky), 88, of Decatur, IL, passed away on May 2, 2024, at The Loft of Decatur. She was in the care of Hospice and died peacefully in her sleep.

Delores was born on October 19, 1935, in Niantic, Ill , to John J. Zienkosky and Nora Faye (Critchnau).  She graduated from Niantic Harristown High School in 1953. She started her working career at Staley’s after high school, then spent some time working at Rotz’s Market in Niantic and ended up spending 40 years and working until she was 80 for Vega Enterprises, Harristown Il, communicating with their customers around Illinois, the United States, and across the world.  

Dee loved to travel and visited Greece and Japan along with many of the US States. There are many things about her that her family and friends will remember with fondness in the years to come.  Dee enjoyed offering her advice and opinions to anyone in earshot – and often pretending not to hear any replies.  She enjoyed playing the lottery at the corner gas station and going to the casino when she could.  She was an avid reader – often with two or three books going at any time.  Most of all, we will miss her fierce determination to live her life the way she wanted.

Dee is survived by her Sister, Mary Koonce (Bob) of Maroa. Son Scott (DeeDee Luttrell) of Decatur, IL, and Daughter Jodi Trusner (Dennis Fernet) Port St Lucie, FL. She was the grandmother of three, great-grandmother of two, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son Todd (Christine Latinette), parents and brothers John (Jack) and James (Jim) .

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
