Dianna Lynn Byrd, 65, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on November 1, 2025. She was born on May 15, 1960, in Flint, Michigan, to Lawrence and Norma Jean O’Connor.
Dianna spent most of her life in Yuba and Sutter County, California, where she met her husband, Roger Byrd. Roger and Dianna first fell in love on July 4, 1996, and immediately knew they were meant for each other. They went on to get married six years later, on October 11, 2002.
Dianna was known for being a mother figure to everyone she encountered, whether they were older or younger than her. She treated everyone she met as if they were her own sibling, child, or grandchild. Dianna wore her heart on her sleeve and spread love to all who were around her, while welcoming that same love in return.
One of her greatest joys in life was being surrounded by her family. Whenever she had the opportunity to visit with her loved ones, she took it and made the most of every moment. Holidays were her favorite time of year because they meant the whole family was together — laughing, hugging, and enjoying each other’s company.
Dianna also found immense joy in creating beautiful ponds, growing plants, raising fish and cats, and making others smile. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, empathy, and generosity.
Dianna is survived by her husband, Roger Byrd; her son, Richard (Heather); her daughters, Amanda (Jamie) and Theresa (Jeremy); and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Dustin Van Winkle and Zachariah Byrd; her grandson, Steven Smith; and her granddaughter, Melissa Smith.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held on November 25, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Blue Mound Civic Center in Blue Mound, Illinois. Dianna will be present at the memorial both in spirit and through her ashes, resting in a beautiful urn.
Dianna touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
May her memory be a blessing to our hearts and minds.
