Born in Springfield Illinois on May 7th 1949. He gained his wings at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur Illinois on December 8th 2022 at 4:32 am.

Don was a man of faith and a devoted member of the Family Worship Center Church in Charleston Il. He served in United States Marine Corps 3rd Divison. He proudly fought for his country
in the Vietnam war. He was a Private First Class and  had an honorible discharge. He received 2 Purple Heart Medals, Vietnam Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and
a Service medal with many stars. He served his country with pride and once a marine always a marine. He was the biggest fan of the Chicago Cubs and loved watch his Miami Dolphins play.
Don was a devoted family man. His children and grandchildren meant the whole world to him. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and brother. He would have given his last breath for each of them.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved watching his grandkids grow.

Don was preceded in death by his mother Lola Purvis and father Dick Purvis and brother Robert Lee.

Don is survived by his three devoted children, wife, grandchildren. His son Wayne Purvis of Lerna Il, Donald Purvis Jr of Arcola married to Cindy Purvis, and his daughter Mindy Etnire of
Charleston married to Jeremy Etnire, wife Linda Purvis. Grandchildren: Madalynn Etnire, Shelby Etnire, Taylor York, Jordan York and one great grandchild Gabby Diggs. Also surviving brothers LeRoy Purvis of North Carolina, Robert Purvis of Springfield IL and sister Mary Purvis of Springfield.

Don knew in his final day that his faith in God would heal him and his family when his time came. Don was a proud Marine, Christian, father, grandfather and always kept his faith in God. His family
family was with him in his final days.

Service will be held Sunday December 18th 2022
Family and Friends welcome at 2:30
Services will begin at 3:00pm
Celebration of live following service at the church.
