Donald Ray Humphries, 63, of Decatur, IL passed away in his home surrounded by loving family on September 25, 2025. Don was born June 1, 1962, in Tarrant, Texas, the son of Shirley Haynes and Earl Humphries. Don was the brother of Carl Humphries, Earl Humphries (Debra), Delbert Humphries, Marlene Berry, and Lonnie (Larry) Davis.
Don is a veteran who was proud to serve his country. If you ever met him, you already know that he would do anything for anyone. On September 10, 2016, he married the love of his life Barbara Humphries. He loved living his life to the fullest with Barb and made many memories some of them would make everyone jealous. Don devoted himself to be the best husband that he could be and that in itself was pretty spectacular.
Don was the most kind and caring man that loved his family and especially the grandkids. He even loved the fur babies Sasha and Sabrina and, of course, the fur grand babies. “Big Daddy Don” was his self-proclaimed nickname which I’m gonna tell you came to tuition as he really was the real deal! Don was the BEST grandpa to all the kids, but had a special place in his heart for anyone that needed it. Don (the naked mole rat) fought long and hard for a chance at eternal happiness, and now he is eating cheeseburgers in Heaven with the BIG man himself.
He is survived by his Daughter Kaylee Edel (Drew), Kianna, and Joey as well as his stepchildren Mike (Rachel), Bill (Jeannine), Tim, Sarah (Jeremy), Amy, and Kevin (Kendra). He also was a proud grandpa to Adalyn, Konor, Kane, Alayna, Peyton, Gregory (Drue), Jordan, Jayce (Libby), Jayden, Jaxen, Kiersten, Caylee, and Anialye (we won’t even mention the grand dogs) and great grandson Emerson. He was proceeded in death by his parents, and his daughters Christina and Jessica.
At the end of the day, he went in peace with the people he loved. A celebration of Life will be announced soon.
