Effie “Sue” O’Dell Nickerson, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday March 15, 2022 at The Loft Rehabilitation center in Decatur, Illinois

Effie was born February 12, 1936 to Claude and Gladys (Weers) Nickerson in Indiana. Due growing up in a girls home, family meant everything to Effie. She knew no stranger and often times would make
friends with anyone that didn’t mind chatting with her and even more often brought them in to her
home. Effie was a retired nurse working in a NICU in Texas, to many nursing homes throughout Illinois,
including taking care of some in her own home. She was a natural caregiver, often times helping take
care of the people that needed it the most until she no longer had the ability to do so. Effie was a
member of Abundant Life Christian Center and thought of them as family. She was also a member of
Maranatha Church’s Wednesday night bible study, and later became a member when she could no
longer physically attend services at Abundant Life. Effie was a lover of flowers and art, and often found
beauty in even the most basic of things, once even painting with toothpaste to create the color she
wanted. She would bring things home to “fix up” because she thought they would bring more beauty in
to her life.

Effie is survived by her children Billie Anne (Terry) Richert of Riverview, Florida, Tina Maurer, and Robert Lowe both of Decatur, Illinois. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 9 great, great grandchildren, brother in law Edward Cook and all of her church family and countless other family and friends.

Effie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, son Michael Peters, daughter Pamela Lowe, and
longtime companion Larry Nuckolls.

Services will be held Saturday March 19, 2022 at 3:30 PM with a dinner to follow at Abundant Life
Christian Center 1705 N. Maple Ave. Decatur, IL 62526 with pastor Jameson Wheeler officiating.
Memorials can be made to Abundant Life Christian Center.

Effie’s family would like to thank The Loft Rehabilitation Center staff for taking care of her in her final
months, and her church family for being there and loving her like your own.
