Eric Lynn Batchelder, 56, of Latham, IL passed away on December 7, 2024 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones after an intense battle with cancer. He fought with everything he had, but ultimately was called Home to Jesus.
Eric (Lippy) was born on November 15, 1968 in Decatur, IL to David and Kristine Batchelder. He was married to Sally Jo Batchelder on July 7, 2014 in Eureka Springs, AR. Eric was a United States Air Force Veteran, and retired from Van Horn Sales in 2019, but continued to work for Johnston Farms up until his illness.
Eric had many interests, but one of his greatest joys was spending time boating on Lake Norfork in Mountain Home, AR with his family. He loved the outdoors and could often be found camping, hunting, or shooting trap when he wasn’t on the lake. He also loved working on cars, spending time with his friends, and rooting for his beloved Steelers.
Eric is survived by his parents: David and Kristine Batchelder of Warrensburg, IL; wife: Sally Batchelder of Latham, IL; daughter: Ashley Batchelder of Decatur, IL; son: Aaron (Hannah)Batchelder of Decatur, IL; adopted children: Jaxton and Haddie Batchelder of Latham, IL; step-son: Bobby (Samantha Schahl) Clark of Chestnut, IL; Laura Clark of Lincoln, IL; Travis Clark of
Chestnut, IL; grandchildren: Kadelyn, Marissa, Laila, and John; brother: Wes (Traci) Batchelder of Pittsburgh, PA; sister: Alicia Goroski of Denver, CO; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Eric is preceded in death by his grandparents: Clifford and Lillian Batchelder; Loren Pannier and Dorothy Orr; step-daughter: Amanda Clark; and aunt: Janet Mitchell.
Instead of a traditional service, there will be a Celebration of Life for Eric at the Warrensburg Sportsman’s Club on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. In lieu of sending flowers, we ask that you make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Eric’s honor.
