Gary Kent Baylor went home to be with his Heavenly Father on July 30, 2025. Services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Grace Baptist Church located at 3770 North Water Street, Decatur, Illinois with Rev. John Baylor, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life will be held at noon. Private interment will be at a later date.

Gary was born on October 19, 1975, in Urbana, Illinois to the late John Sr. and Margaret (Dressler) Baylor. His mother survives. He married his high-school sweetheart, Carrie Ragsdale, on August 2, 1996. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their three children, Leah (Tristin) Minard, Sarah Baylor, and Jade (Jude) Baylor, as well as three siblings, Nancy (John) Connett, John Jr., (Anita) Baylor, and Peggy Baylor, as well as several nieces and nephews and a great-nephew and a great-niece. He will be greatly missed by his beloved dog, BluBelle, and his cats, Diesel and Pete.

Gary was a man of deep faith, and he enjoyed long conversations about Jesus. He was a member of The Vineyard Church of Central Illinois. Gary loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, son-in-law, father-in-law and friend. He never met a stranger.

Gary was a talented mechanic and could fix or rebuild anything. He especially enjoyed working on his Subaru. He was an avid bargain hunter and would always find the best deal. The man could make a joke out of anything.

Gary spent twenty plus years in the insurance field. He treated all his clients with great kindness and the compassion of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Convoy of Hope.
