Gerald Alan “Bub” Hadden Jr., 67, of Stonington, IL, passed away on February 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his wife and children.

Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Bub was a man of many talents and a relentless work ethic. He was a dedicated worker at Pleasant View Township for 42 years, serving from January 1, 1982, to December 31, 2024. A gifted woodworker, he literally built the foundation of his family’s life; one of his proudest achievements was hand-crafting the home he shared with his wife, Mary, and granddaughter, Bella.

Bub never met a stranger. He had an innate ability to connect with people, a trait that shone through his lifelong love of auctions—a hobby that perfectly combined his passion for community and animals. Above all, Bub was a teacher at heart, finding immense joy in passing down his knowledge and love of animals to his grandchildren.

Whether he was immersed in a book, tending to his garden, or finding peace at the lake lot, Bub believed in the simple beauty of a life well-lived. He was happiest when relaxing with friends and family, sharing stories and laughter. His kind heart and hardworking spirit leave a legacy that will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Bub is survived by his devoted wife, Mary D. Hadden; his children, Jason (Tressa) Hadden of Blue Mound and Teara (Adam) Floyd of Harristown; his beloved grandchildren, Owen, Dakota, Lane, Kalen, Levi, Bella, Jaylee, and Ahna; and his many siblings.

A Celebration of Bub’s Life will be held on March 8th, 2026, at the Blue Mound Civic Center from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Preacher Rodney Houser will speak on behalf of the family to honor Bub’s memory.
