Gina Maria Shuff, nee Schmitz, 65, of Pana, Illinois passed away on March 12, 2025, at Prairie Rose Memory Center.

She was born on April 23,1959, in Pana, Illinois. She graduated from Pana High School and attended Sparks College.

Gina worked for many years at Pana Community Hospital as a CNA. She also worked at Pana Health and Rehab. Gina loved caring for anyone who was ill, and she left an impression on many of them. Gina’s family often heard from patients or their family members about how she was a blessing. Gina showed great care and compassion, and it meant so much to them.

Gina made many people smile with her hugs and kind heart. She didn’t know a stranger and loved talking with people she would meet. Gina loved being a wife and especially a mom to Staci. Gina loved going out to eat and visiting with family and friends.

Gina married Charles “Scott” Shuff on July 21, 1984, at Knob’s Church in Tower Hill, Illinois. Gina is survived by her husband Scott, and daughter Staci of Pana. Parents Bob and Marie Horsthemke of Pana, brother-in-law Ken Detloff of Bloomington Illinois, sister Doug (Laura)French of Sparta, Illinois, sister Denise Harmon of Floresville, Texas, brother, Bob (Jennifer) Horsthemke of Washington, Illinois, and sister Chuck (Angie) Smith of Highland, Illinois, sister-in-law, Jim (Diana) Bullock of Chatham Illinois, brother-in-law, Jeff (Carla) Shuff of Nokomis Illinois. Gina loved her many nieces and nephews Emily, Anna, Elliott, Juliana, Kayleena, Marissa, William, Maggie, Jackson, Kelsey, Claire, Stephanie, Tyler, Tiffany, and Cory.

Gina was preceded by father, Eugene Schmitz, sister, Angie Detloff, brother-in-law, Richard Harmon, nephew, Jake Henschen and in-laws Charles (Lois) Shuff.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26th. The service will be officiated by Pastor Leon Goff at the United in Faith Church in Pana Illinois. Visitation will be from 10-11am followed by the service starting at 11am.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to AAMP-AMT in Pana, Illinois. (address: AAMP-AMT) 11 South Locust Street, Pana, IL 62557, Gina’s daughter Staci attends there, and the money is used to help special needs individuals.

Arrangements are provided by Central Cremation Center in Forsyth IL.
