Helen Holden passed from this life to heaven February 5th, 2024 . Born in Paducah, KY, the oldest of 9, to Chris Roof and Juanita Poat, on August 7th 1932.

She was one of four in the first graduating class at St John’s School in Lone Oak, KY. Helen married Ronald Holden May 30, 1954 and moved to Decatur, IL in August of 1960. She worked for the Macon County Treasurer’s office for 19 years.

Helen was known for her kindness, charm, and hospitality. There was never an empty stomach at her house, and never turned anyone away, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She will always hold a special place in the countless hearts of all the friends she made over her 91 years here on earth. She absolutely loved and cherished her family and lit up the faces of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They all loved “Grammy”. She was truly one in a million.

The family would like to thank Dr. DiMondo, Dr. Kola, Dr. Modi and the staff at Heritage Health Care in Mt. Zion for their great care.

Her husband, Ron, and grandchildren, Kristy, and Nathan, preceded her in death. She is survived by sons Stephen, Paul, and David along with ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be Saturday February 17th 2024, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM at Maranatha Church, 555 Imboden St with the service immediately following at noon. .

Central Cremation Center in Forsyth, Illinois is handling arrangements.
