In Loving Memory of Horace “Bubby” Jarone Stine
January 4, 1974 – May 19, 2025
Horace Jarone Stine — better known as “Bubby” — clocked out of this world on May 19, 2025. He left behind a toolbox full of memories, a tackle box full of stories, and a legacy that’s equal parts heart, humor, and WD-40.
Born in Decatur, Illinois and passed in Mount Zion, Illinois, Bubby was a master of many things: maintenance, holding down the couch, and making people laugh at exactly the wrong time. He worked at Continental Carbonics for 26 years before becoming a maintenance man at ADM. Where he kept the place running smoothly with equal parts skill and sarcasm.
Outside of work, he was happiest by the water with a fishing pole in hand, preferably around a campfire, a cold drink nearby, holding down the couch while channel surfing, and someone to swap fishing tales with — which he usually won, whether they were true or not. He believed in living simply, loving fiercely, and never passing up a chance to sneak a nap in.
Bubby was welcomed into the next life by his father Leonard Stine Sr., brothers Richie Stine and Joey Stine, his in-laws Patricia Davis, Billy-Bob Davis, and Sister in-law Mary Griffiths-Andersen, who probably greeted him with a beer, a laugh, and a fishing pole ready to be cast.
He leaves behind an entire fan club, including his loving wife of 32 years, Stacey Stine; his mother, Vicky Stine; his children, Devin Stine and Krista Stine; his siblings, Michele Stine and Shannon Stine (Michele), brother in-law Ralph Griffiths
(Tina) and more nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews than even Bubby could keep track of. All of his loved
ones will miss his laughter, wit, and one-of-a-kind sense of humor.
A memorial service to celebrate this unforgettable man will be held on June 28th, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Clinton Lake Recreation Area, Whispering Pines Amphitheater. 7251 Ranger Road, Dewitt, Illinois 61735. Come as you are — jeans, fishing shirts, and bad jokes encouraged. Bubby wouldn’t want it any other way. Please bring your own chairs, a side
dish to share, and drinks to enjoy.
We’ll miss his laughter, his ability to find joy in the simplest things, and the way he could turn any moment into a
little adventure. But most of all, we’ll miss his easygoing spirit and the way he made everything feel a little bit lighter. So
here’s to Bubby: a one-of-a-kind soul with a heart bigger than his tackle box. May the fish be biting, the fire never go out, and the camp chairs always be comfy.
