On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, Jack Andrew Bratten, 39, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Tuscola, IL, unexpectedly passed away and joined his Savior in Heaven.

Jack was born on July 27, 1983 at Sarah Bush Lincoln in Mattoon, IL. He is survived by his parents, Jack “Andy” Bratten (Carrie) of Tuscola, IL, Angelia Von Lanken Speckman of Tolono, IL and Jill Bishop (Brent) of Excelsior Springs, MO.

Jack was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ed and Wanda Von Lanken, paternal grandparents, Don and Dottie Bratten, and Uncle, Kevin Bratten.

Jack is survived by his sisters Andrea Lewis (Darren) of Villa Grove, IL, Ashley Handal (Joe) of Philo, IL and Mia Bratten of Tuscola. He is also survived by brothers Eric (Deb) Ruff of Mahomet, IL, Dustin Benner of Excelsior Springs, MO, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jack’s greatest blessings and his pride and joys were his nieces Emma, Haylen, and Hallie and his one and only nephew, Easton. His eyes lit up every time he got to see them and there is no other place he would have rather been then spending time with them.

Jack had a deep connection with God, and his faith was ever present in his life where he could quote bible verses on a regular basis. He was a stranger to no one and found great purpose in sharing his love for fishing, the GOAT Michael Jordan, The Ohio State Buckeyes, The Chicago Bears, and The Chicago Cubs. Jack was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in his life. His impact will forever be felt by his family, friends, and colleagues. He will truly be missed.

A visitation will be held on December 3, 2022 at Living Hope Fellowship Church in Villa Grove, IL from 9am-11am. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 at the church with Pete Lake and Phil Lake officiating. Burial will be at the Tuscola Township Cemetery in Tuscola, IL. The family requests that all attend please wear red or Ohio State apparel, as Jack wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
