It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of James Junior Crafton, a devoted husband, loving father, proud pepaw, and cherished friend, who passed away on August 5, 2025 at the age of 86.

He was born in Baldwin, MS. in 1938 to Horace and Lizzie Crafton. James joined the US army after graduating high school. He was a proud veteran who retired from the Army National Guard after 36 years of service.

James built a fulfilling life with his beloved wife Brenda Fay Crafton, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Together, they raised two children: Rena Barker (Crafton) and James Junior Crafton II. Grandchildren Molly Crafton, Joshuah Geowie, James Crafton III, and Zachary Crafton.

James will be remembered as a friend to all. He could often be found at auctions where he was purchasing antique toys and other antiques for his collection.

James Crafton is survived by his wife Brenda Crafton; sisters Ruth Hight (Harry), Johnnie Burnett (Jett); his daughter Rena Barker (Bobby); his son James Crafton II (Danielle); his granddaughter Molly Crafton; grandsons Joshuah Goewie, James Crafton III and Zachary Crafton; great-granddaughter Zara Goewie; great grandsons Chandler Merideth, Liam Galloway and Jonny Goewie.

As well as many beloved extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by parents Horace Crafton, Lizzie Crafton and brother John Crafton.

Services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
