James Sexton Foster, beloved husband to Joan Elizabeth Foster for 59 years, passed away peacefully
on May 3 rd , 2022.  He was born at the family farmhouse in Argenta, Illinois on September 3,1938, and
lived most of his life in Decatur Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Foster and his
mother Velma Lanter Foster and his brothers Howard Leon, Raymond, Bernard (Irene), Delmar, and
Edwin Earl.  He is survived by his wife Joanie, his sister-in-law Irene Foster, his sons James L Foster
(Kathleen) and Timothy R Foster, his 7 grandchildren Paige Foster, James Foster (Dana), Kaitlyn Foster,
Victoria (Derrick) Muntz, John Foster, and twins Sydney and Hannah Foster, and his 2 great
grandchildren Kennedy Clark and Paisley Lee along with many nephews and nieces.

Jim loved watching NASCAR and old westerns and telling jokes.  He held an avid dislike for fishing.  He
was the proverbial “Jack of all trades”; if dad didn’t know how to fix it….”it was broke”.  While never getting
the chance to play sports, he never missed his sons’ football games and loved to travel to watch his
grandkids in all their sporting adventures:  baseball, football, hockey, softball, soccer or volleyball.

We are sure he is with his brothers, retelling the stories we all heard our whole lives, knowing some of the
tales are taller, the hits were harder, the fish were bigger and the wins were grander!  While unable to join
the military in his youth, he was a proud supporter of every branch!  But truth be told, go Marines!

We will have a celebration of life at the Second Church of God 2670 E Division St, Decatur IL on May
21 st  at noon, followed by a luncheon.
