TOGETHER, CENTRAL CREMATION CENTER AND ADAMS FUNERAL CHAPEL WILL PARTNER TO ASSIST IN HONORING THE LIVES OF JIM AND HIS BELOVED GRANDSON, ETHAN.
Jim was born in Jewitt, Illinois to James W. and Ethel (Beals) Miller on June 8, 1938. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959. Jim married Rose Polley on April 16, 1960. He was employed by Moore Business Forms for many years. He is survived by Rose and sons, Jim Miller (DeAnne), Jeff Miller (Kelly), and daughter Angie (Rick) Nichols.
As patriarch of the Miller family, Jim was the moral compass for the family. He was looked to for love, guidance, strength, knowledge and probably most favored by all who knew him, humor. If he was passionate about anything, it was the love he had for his wife and family. Family was his focus throughout his long and full life.
Most treasured to Jim was his wife, Rose, of nearly 64 years. He never hesitated to let her and the rest of the world know it. His sense of humor was sought out by family and friends, and sometimes strangers who felt drawn to his love for life. With 3 children & their spouses, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and an entire extended family, he created an abundance of fun. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s activities and was so proud of the adults they had grown into.
He was dedicated to making everyone’s lives a joy. In his later years, the incredible group of friends he gathered with nearly every morning at the local Arby’s, affectionately called “the Office”, was a highlight for him.
Jim will be missed and forever loved in our hearts. Sadly, his grandson, Ethan Miller, preceded Jim in death. Although the family is devastated in their deaths, they find a bit of comfort knowing that the two of them are together with the Lord.
