James H. Wills, known to family and friends as Jim, age 88, passed away on December 16, 2025, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Illinois.

Jim was born December 14, 1937, in Chatsworth, Illinois, to Orville and Elizabeth Wills, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Reddick High School. Shortly after, he proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed for a time in Korea. Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed serving as the mayor of Buckingham, being an active member of the Joliet Ski Club, working alongside the Illinois Liquor Association, and enrolling for insurance companies across the country—where he met countless people and formed many lasting friendships. He truly never knew a stranger and was known for his kindness to everyone he met, greeting life and all people with a big smile and a firm handshake.

Jim had a lifelong love of sports, especially baseball football and his love for the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bears. Baseball was always a central part of his life, no matter his age. He played the game, coached, and was involved with numerous fast-pitch softball teams, becoming well known for his deep love of the sport and dedication to the game.

Above all, Jim cherished his family, his dogs, his flowers, and especially his grandchildren, who meant the world to him and whom he always looked forward to spending time with.

He is survived by his sisters, Bette Richards (Salem, Oregon), Joan Pierce (Casper, Wyoming), and Marilyn Rabens (Elmhurst, Illinois); his fiancée, Rita Fisher (Normal, Illinois); his son, Brad Wills (Vicki) of Columbia, South Carolina; his daughters, Tamara (Don) Brewer of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and Karrin (Chris) Hawkins of Normal, Illinois; and his five beloved grandchildren, Cassity Brewer, Stokes Brewer, James (Sybil) Brewer, TJ (Madeline) Bogar and Anna Klaire Hawkins. Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings Merle, Joyce (Kraft), and Patrick.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a private service will be held at a later date.
