Jason Cole, 47, of rural Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024. Born on September 28, 1976, Jason was the beloved son of Sheila Tangman, who courageously fought cancer until her passing, and Doyal Hambrick. He was a devoted father to his son, Perrin Cole, and a loving stepfather to Caetiana Cole.

Jason is survived by his sisters, Brandy (Pete) Graham and Danyell (Lyle) Miller, as well as his brothers, Johnny Clenin Jr. and Nicholas Clenin. He was predeceased by his sister, Veronica (Ron) Cole. Jason also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and an extensive network of friends and family across the United States.

To know Jason was to understand the essence of true friendship, love, and acceptance. He was a selfless individual who gave generously to others, never asking for anything in return. His insatiable curiosity and love for learning were evident in his relentless pursuit of knowledge and his willingness to embrace new experiences. Jason’s deep affection for animals was as vast as his radiant smile, and he found immense joy in caring for them.

Throughout his life, Jason worked in construction, a trade that provided him with a living, but his passions extended far beyond his work. He found fulfillment in gardening, singing karaoke, and spending time with friends. Those who knew Jason, especially his family and friends at NSPOA, will forever feel the void left by his absence. His infectious laughter and warm smile will be deeply missed, yet cherished in the memories of all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

In Jason’s memory, his family asks that you honor his legacy by contributing to your local animal shelter, lending a helping hand to those in need, and sharing a smile with a stranger. Let us continue to carry forward his spirit of love, appreciation for nature, and acceptance of all. Jason will be forever cherished, forever loved, and forever missed.
