Jennifer Jeanne Beck’s beautiful spirit and soul entered eternity on November 14, 2023, after 62 short years with us here. She fought the good fight.*

A celebration of Jennifer’s life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Vintage Church, 945 South Jasper, Decatur, at 2 pm. Casual dress is expected.

Jennifer had an enduring belief in the goodness and grace of God, despite the hand that life had dealt her. She walked through hell and back, and it’s a testimony that she survived, and thrived. Her faith and equanimity helped sustain her, and has blessed her friends and family as well. Her friends & family also cherish her generosity, her many expressions of love, and her quick wit.

Jennifer found humor in many things, and shared that with all. She was known for a quick comeback, and appreciation for irony and the absurdities of life.

Jennifer held many different jobs throughout her life, and was always a dedicated worker. She had many skills, but accounting was her specialty.

Jennifer loved horses (had one of her own) and dogs (she had many throughout her life). She had a t-shirt that said “Life Goal – Pet All The Dogs”. She also enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, such as ‘Storage Wars’ ‘Pawn Stars’, and ‘Wheel of Fortune’.

But Jennifer’s favorite pastime was going on the lake in ‘our’ boat. She liked to stop at the ‘sand bar’, and said she was ‘exfoliating’ her feet in the sand.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents Lois Jeanne and Richard Andrew Smith, and her beloved dogs Maybelline and Baby. She is survived by her sister Judy and brother-in-law George, a brother, Mark, and her beloved dog Hachi (who she spoiled with car rides and ice cream). Jennifer leaves also, to cherish her memory, several good friends: Jeff, Sally, Rebecca, John, Billy, Josh, Orville and Richard, as well as her former boss Ed, and Joel; her long-time friend & hair stylist, Sam, and many others.

Special thanks to Dr. O’Keefe, Jennifer’s friend & dental technician, Margaret, and Ali at Central Cremation Center.

Because Jennifer loved animals so much, donations made in her memory to a favorite animal rescue would be greatly appreciated. Donations may also be made to radio station WGBL, since she liked it so much as well.

Jennifer will be greatly missed and never forgotten. It has been said that “a person is not dead while their name is still spoken.” We will remember and speak of her often.
