Jerry S. “Scotty” Alexander, 73, of Decatur, IL passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022, peacefully in his sleep.

Scotty was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on May 3, 1949, the son of William and Thelma (Bass) Alexander. He attended Gulfport High School.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years; Scotty married Debra Bradford on August 30, 1980, in Decatur, IL.  Also surviving are his children: Jerry (Danielle) Alexander, Jr., Kimberly (Chris) Lourash, Stephanie (Blake) Rauch, Brittany (Josh)Ater, Kelli (David) O’Neal, Connie (Bernard) Dubisson.  17 grandchildren: Taylor, Peyton, Devin, Logan, Brooke, Alexis, Bailey, Vivienne, Jacob, Alexis, Arielle, Jolie, Jimmy, Sierra, Maddi, Hailey and Hannah. Scotty is also survived by his brother Charles (Jan) Alexander of New Mexico and his niece Shaun (Rick) Allcock of Moline.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters: Arthur, Eddie, Rosann, and Connie.

Scotty worked at the Decatur School District #61 for 20 years.  He also was a volunteer Vietnam Vet serving 2 tours and worked in construction.  He enjoyed working outdoors, taking care of his lawn and plants. Most of all he loved spending time with his beloved wife of 42 years Debra and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held for Scotty on November 4, 2022, at 11:00am at the 1^st General Baptist Church, 2825 S Baltimore Ave, Decatur, IL 62521. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00am.  Burial will be at Mt. Gilead Cemetery following the services.  Central Cremation Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
