John W. Burwell, 61, of Mattoon, IL., passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at his residence. John was born December 6, 1963, in Mattoon. John loved his children and grandchildren and would do anything to help anybody he could. He loved fishing and baseball and was a die-hard Cubs fan.

He is survived by his daughters Amber (Michael) Evans, Johnna (Charley) Bennett and Samantha Burwell, grandchildren Michelle Evans, Bailey Evans, Domenic Wilcox, Pacey Jenkins, Liam Jenkins and “Rockie” Bennett as well as brother James Burwell and sister Katrina Burwell and other half-siblings.

He was preceded in death by his mother Joann Burwell as well as sisters Barb, Pam and Kathy. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service honoring his life will be set at a later date.
