Johnny “Big John” Bourne

67 of Boody, Illinois

March 3, 1958-October 7, 2025

Preceded in death by his parents Earline and Howard Bourne and siblings, Jim, Peggy and Billy.

Survived by his twin sons; J. Travis and Zeb Bourne; grandchildren Gavin, Emmett, Audrey and Wyatt Bourne. Sisters Teresa Washburn, Kathy Bourne; brother Jeff Bourne; cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and his dog Jake.

John had a voice that bellowed through the biggest of crowds, he never minced words, had a snicker as soft as a whisper and a smirk that said it all.

He was a man that his family could count on, a man we all respected and his grandchildren admired. He never missed a birthday or an opportunity to tell a joke… no matter how many times you’ve heard it!!

His passion in life changed with age… he was a cowboy, an Army mechanic, a farmer, horse trainer, a truck driver, and a retiree, but his purpose was ALWAYS his boys and their babies.

John was a big man that left an even bigger void in the world of those that loved him. He will be greatly missed by many and his memory cherished by all.

So many fond memories growing up with Johnny and his siblings. I didn't see nearly enough of him later in life. He was always the jokester. He always brought smiles and laughter. One memory many of us have of Johnny was his running mount onto the back of a horse. He would have brought home the gold if it had ever been an Olympic event His uniform would of had to be stretchy blue jeans because he always ended up showing his ass on the dismount. You will be missed Johnny. i hope you and Darrell are in heaven plotting new trouble and making new memories. Until we meet again...

Oh big John… you were one of a kind. A big burly man with a kind heart. I’m so sorry you were hurting. We have many memories. Lots of trail rides and get togethers. Go ride pain free on those trails in heaven. You will be missed

Big Jhon was a good man He taught me a lot about horses and how to break them and taught me not everybody was my friend had a good memories of riding Moonlight riding to Macon and tying up at the elevator

Big John was more than a big brother to me. He was a friend also. John took care and watched out for me when I was little. John was always there he will be missed.
