Karen K Bailey, 71 of Taylorville, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025 peacefully at home. A memorial service will be held December 5, 2025 at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville with visitation from 10:00am – 11:00am prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date.

Karen was born January 5, 1954 in Mattoon, Illinois to Harry and Lorna (Stuckemeyer) Koss. She graduated from Effingham High School in 1972 and attended Lakeland Community College to earn her LPN license. She went on to Lincoln Land Community College where she earned her RN license. Karen served for many years in hospitals, nursing homes, and as a home healthcare nurse.

On April 23, 1977 she married Harlan (Beetle) Bailey at St John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham, IL. He preceded her in death March 12, 2021.

Karen is survived by a son Korey (Candy) Bailey of Stonington, IL, a daughter Heidi (Mike) Fulk of Lincoln, IL; 4 grandchildren Sheyenne, Shaunee, Rayne, and Sierra Bailey; sister Lanna Atkins of Pharr, Texas, brother Roger (Janice) Koss of St Joseph, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, mother and father- in- law Everette and Florien (Nation) Bailey, brother-in-law Gerry Atkins, and nephew Mark Atkins.

Karen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Taylorville where she enjoyed Bible Study, Choir, and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She also enjoyed playing cards and events with the Senior Center.
