Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Staake, 70, passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2025. Kathy was born on June 4, 1955 in Springfield, IL to Robert and Elizabeth Kincaid. She inherited from her father a love of gardening, and no matter where she lived, her flowers were a bright and beautiful greeting.

One of Kathy’s greatest joys was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and they’ve been left with many joyful memories of summers spent on Lake of the Woods. Kathy never knew a holiday she didn’t like to decorate for, and she was always ready for an impromptu adventure, whether with her family or friends. She lived life with a there’s-always- room-for-one-more philosophy, and this attitude extended not only to people, but dogs as well. Not especially tall, Kathy still managed to fill a giant space with laughter and love.

Kathy is survived by her husband Rodney, brother Scott Kincaid, children Whitney Chacon, Ryan Behl, Daniel and Justin Staake, and their families. A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at a later date. In-lieu-of-flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Research Institute.
