Kenny Black Sr., beloved father, brother, and grandfather, passed away surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his children, Kenny Black Jr. and Heather Black (Patrick Dempsey); his sisters, Debra Gipson of Springfield, Rose Fox of Rochester, and Kimberly (Tony) Washington of Springfield; and his step-sisters, Nellie (Kevin) Andres of Tuscola and Susan Logsdon (Tony) of Charleston, South Carolina. Kenny was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Kennedy, Kassidy, Koltan, Kinleigh, Bailee, and Halee. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law.

Kenny was an avid race fan, with a special love for Dale Earnhardt Sr., and he also lived his passion on the track as a racecar driver. He competed weekly at several Central Illinois dirt tracks, including Jacksonville Speedway, Macon Speedway, the Springfield Mile, and Springfield Speedway, where he was proud to be the 1985 track champion in his division.

In addition to racing, Kenny was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and loved football. He had a successful career as a talented welder, and in his spare time, he enjoyed tending to his garden.

Kenny’s love, warmth, and humor will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
