Larry Robert Russell Sr., 79, of Decatur passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025 peacefully in his home.

A walk-through celebration of life will be held February 22, 2025, from 3-5pm at West Decatur Church of God. A meal will follow at 5pm at Kate’s Corner Cafe.

Larry was born on March 26, 1945, in Decatur, IL, the son of the late Florence E. Russell. He married the love of his life Shirley A Conaway.

Larry had a multitude of jobs through his life, but his favorite would have been driving a dump truck. He owned his own and later worked for Hutchins Excavating. Every summer Saturday night you would catch him in Turn 3 at Macon Speedway.

He is survived by his children, David (Sharilyn) Russell, Linda (Joe) Thompson, Thersia Skinner, Butch (Lisa) Russell, Todd (Jeff) Russell, and Laura Russell, brother, Lonnie Russell Sr., sisters, Karen Nevius and Sharon Ross, grandchildren, Jordan Russell, Samantha Ragan, Skye (Rich) Hogan, Holly Russell, Megan (Chad) Blair, Jessica (Dillion) Wanless, Courtney (Blake) Lowe, Katie (Dalton) Russell, and Austin (Zailey) Skinner as well as many great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Alberta Richardson, an infant brother Lewis, son Larry Russell Jr., son-in-law Arlen Skinner, grandchild Luxton Russell and great grandchild Kannen Leffler
