Marian L Brown, 90, of Decatur, passed from this life on Monday, February 12, 2024 in her home.

She was born December 31, 1933 on her grandparents’ farm in Piatt County, Illinois, the daughter of Alvin Birch and Thelma Bushell Birch. She graduated from Tuscola High School in 1952.

Marian married the love of her life, James A Brown of Pierson Station, Illinois on May 15, 1952. They moved to Decatur in 1953 and put down deep roots.

Surviving are her daughters, Kathryn Wiseley, Decatur, and Mary (Gary) Swisher of Indianapolis; sister Judy Gambetta, Irving, Texas; grandchildren Ryan Wiseley (Stephanie), Heather Carpenter (John), Stefanie Lebkuecher (Rob), and Matt Swisher (Katie). She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, with another arriving in May, and 2 more joining the family in June.

Marian retired as the seamstress for St Marys Hospital. She was a talented artist, whether she was sewing, painting, knitting, crocheting, or crafting. She was a member of and baptized at New Beginnings Church of God where she made many friends and volunteered in many areas. She was a member of the Wabash Association morning crew and mail volunteers. She and Jim enjoyed traveling and camping for many years.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Central Cremation Center in Forsyth, Illinois is handling arrangements.
