Marilyn Sue (Elpers) Lowe passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, at Carle Hospital in Normal, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Marilyn was born on January 1, 1938, in Logansport, Indiana, to Howard and Margaret Elpers. She married the love of her life, William L. Lowe, on December 9, 1961, and together they built a life centered on family, love, and cherished memories.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Lynn (Gary) Shelmadine, Linda (John) Weed, Brenda Lowe, and William “Billy” (Lisa) Lowe, all of LeRoy; Danita Russell of Normal, Illinois; Kimberly (Jeff) Zumwalt of Bloomington, Illinois; Jeannie (Doug) Cade of Fort Myers, Florida; Larry (Susie) Lowe and Patti (Sam) Spriggs of Kokomo, Indiana.
She also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will forever treasure her memory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Lowe; her daughters, Kelly (Mark) Boyd and Doris James; her grandson, Dylan Russell; her great-grandsons, Jonathan Shelmadine and Dean William; and her great-granddaughter, Ashtyn Storm.
Marilyn found her greatest happiness in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a creative spirit and loved crocheting, sewing, and playing Bingo, always enjoying time spent with family and friends.
Marilyn also enjoyed visiting Florida, where she loved spending time in the sunshine and making special memories with family.
She was known for her kind heart and welcoming spirit and truly never met a stranger. Marilyn had a way of making everyone feel loved, comfortable, and at home.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
