Mark James Reynolds 75, of Decatur, Illinois, passed on from this life at 11:45 a.m., Sunday, April 21, 2024.
A private service will be held for the immediate family. Memorials may be made in Mark’s memory to the Humane Society of Decatur, IL.
Mark was born January 17, 1949, in Mattoon, Illinois, to Lynn and Norma Lou (Strohl) Reynolds. He graduated from Thornton Fractional High School in Lansing, Illinois and then proceeded to obtain a bachelor’s degree from Lea College – on Lake Chapeau in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
In 1974, Mark married Linda Burke. They had one child over their 17 year marriage, which ended in a divorce in 1991.
Mark later went on to meet his significant other: Brenda Greer, whom he lived with for 26 years until she passed away in 2018.
Mark retired from ADM Corporate in 2013 after 29 years of service to the company. He was an extremely hard worker, never missed a day of work, and rarely took vacations. He was beyond reliable.
Mark loved his family and would do anything for them without hesitation. He loved dogs and had several over the years that he treated like family. Mark also loved sports. In his youth, he played many sports, and even made the Little League All Stars Team. He would then proceed to go on to the Little League World Series. He was very into fitness and lifted weights most of his life. In his older years, he loved to bowl and golf. He was a die-hard Chicago sports fan; Cubs, Bulls, Bears, and Blackhawks. He never missed a Chicago Bears football game, with the ‘85 Bears being his dream team. Da Bears! Mark enjoyed music immensely and played the guitar as a pastime. He was funny, too. Always cracking a joke—he and his sense of humor will be dearly missed.
Mark’s greatest characteristic was his generosity. He was generous to a fault and was always willing to help anyone out. He always saw the best in people.
Surviving is his daughter, Stephanie (Chris) Pilger of Decatur, IL; his grandchildren, Asa and Rio.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, his sister; Judith Pflum, and his love; Brenda Greer.
Central Cremation Center in Forsyth, Illinois has been entrusted with arrangements.
