Martha “Mardell” Doerr (nee Dirksmeyer) passed away on November 4, 2023, at the age of 91 in Carlinville, Illinois. She was born on May 25, 1932, in Calhoun County, Illinois. Mardell was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mardell was a hardworking and talented woman. She spent many years working in various garment factories in White Hall, Godfrey, Alsey, and Roodhouse. After retiring, she found joy in working at Jerseyville Furniture & Carpet Galleries. Mardell had a passion for sewing and often repaired her family’s clothes or created beautiful quilts for special occasions. She also had a green thumb and took great pride in tending to her flower beds, ensuring they were always weed-free.

Mardell was a dedicated member of Eldred Baptist Church. Her faith was an important part of her life.

She is survived by her son, Adrian Doerr of Kampsville, IL; her daughters, Barbara Graves of Jacksonville, IL, and Melody Siemer (Jamie) of Virden, IL; five grandchildren, Jennifer Armold, Derek Siemer, Megan Graves, Courtney Powell, and LaRissa Butler; and twelve great-grandchildren. Mardell was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Doerr, and her sisters, Hannah (Jack) Burchett, Irma (Billy) Hannel, and Ida (Dan) Capps, as well as two brothers who passed away in infancy.

A graveside service will be held on November 25, 2023, at Eldred Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Riding for a Reason. Mardell fought bravely against both breast cancer and Alzheimer’s, and contributions to these causes would be greatly appreciated.
