Melanie Scribner, 54, of Decatur Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 17 th , 2026 at Mattoon Healthcare surrounded by her family.

Melanie was one of a kind, you could never meet another like her! She loved her family, her friends and she cherished her sweet kitty, Jasper!

Melanie is survived by her two children, Alyssa Huffman of Mattoon Il., and Clayton & Shiann White of Sullivan Il., three grandchildren, Kylen, Chesney, and Snowe, two siblings, Steven Scribner and Vonnie Lamb. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Bud and Darlene Scribner.

No public services will be held, but we invite you to celebrate Melanie’s memory in your own ways as she will be with us in spirit. The family wants to thank everyone for their love, support and understanding at this difficult time.

We had so many good times I watched the kids for you to go with my mom to get her nails done. I loved yall. You had a laugh no one will forget. I remember when I asked you some questions about your hands and you said it's just arthritis Bae. And we'd laughed about it. There nights watching you and my mom Sam have fun nights then I would laugh so hard I cried. We'll miss you and all you smiles 😃 love you rest in paradise love. Love Kimmy Jo

I have known you since I was 11-12 years old. We had a lot of good times together. Then we got married! That was a roller coaster ride for sure, but you gave me two children, one was built in and the other is our baby. Though our marriage didn’t work out we still stayed in touch. You have been a part of my life for over forty years. With all the good and the bad I know somewhere deep down we still loved each other and believe it or not sweetheart I will miss you!

Mel u was one of a kind girlfriend u was a great one to me I will always remember are good times we all had from the frist time we seen each other in Jasper tralior park Albert st i still remember we has some great times im going miss u .see u on the other side love u rest sweetheart no more pain ...
