Nancy June Walters (Crawford), 86, of Decatur, Illinois passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 2, 2026, at her home that she shared with her eldest son. Nancy was born November 6, 1939, in Chicago Illinois to Larry Shanahan and Martha (Crawford) Smith, adopted by George and Dorothy H Crawford.

Nancy graduated from Decatur High School in 1957, graduated from Millikin University on May 19,1992, and became an accomplished nurse working at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She married Stanley Walters June 9, 1957, in Decatur, IL where they had three sons: Thomas, Robert, and Andrew. They loved family vacations, fishing, cookouts, visiting their relatives in Chicago and Decatur, and playing cards with everyone, especially her grandchildren. Nancy enjoyed feeding the birds, squirrels, and deer that visited her yard. Nancy was a compassionate and headstrong woman who would do anything for those she loved. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Stanley, biological parents Larry Shanahan and Martha Crawford, adoptive parents George and Dorothy H Crawford, and sisters Dorothy and June. Nancy is survived by her brother Robert Crawford; sons Thomas, Robert (TeAnn), Andrew (Denise); Grandchildren Stephan, Nicolle (Mike), Melissa (Ben), Zachary (Alisha), Shari (Brian), and Sarah (Phil) and Great Grandchildren Meridith, Madison, Mya, Christopher, Hudson, Tayven, Karissa, and Kassidy.

The family would like to thank Memorial Hospice Care and Central Cremation Center. Nancy’s final resting place will be at the Harristown Cemetery with private services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity helping people and animals around the world.
