Patricia Jane Oliver, born February 26, 1948, in Taylorville, Illinois to the parents of Robert L.
Smith and Dwighla (Rice) Smith.

Patricia was a graduate from Stonington High School and retired from the City of Decatur. After
she retired, she opened up Patricia’s Sewing Sensation. With a smile and laugh that would light up the room, Pat was loved by all who met her. Pat had a talent for arts and crafts, sewing, and helping others.
Pat was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and beloved friend. She entered Heaven’s Gates on March 12, 2022.

She is survived by her beloved husband Bill, of 25 years, whom she loved unconditionally; sons,
Robert Buchanan, and Michael Oliver; her mother Dwighla of Taylorville, IL; brother Larry
Smith of Pana, IL and sister Karen Mahan of Taylorville, IL.; grandchildren: Ryland, Declan,
Mya and Vanessa; and best friends Pam, Roxanne, and Tricia. She is survived and loved by so
many extended family and friends.

With the utmost gratitude, thank you Dr. James Wade and the team at Cancer Care Specialists of
Illinois. She was especially fond of Robin and Layne and Tina! She was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Smith and sons, James Mark Buchanan, and Steven Earl Buchanan.

A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s AME Church Saturday March 19 th at 11am
