Phil Damery, affectionately known as Grandpa Duck, passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, October 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Phil was an amazing son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a veteran of the National Guard, captain of Cheap Tours, as well as a good friend to all who knew him.

Phil called Blue Mound, Illinois, which he referred to as the center of the world, home for most of his life. Though vertically challenged, he lived life large, embracing every moment with enthusiasm and warmth. He never met a stranger and had a unique gift for brightening the day of every child he encountered, greeting them with his signature Donald Duck voice that brought smiles nearly every time.

Known for his quick wit and an endless supply of dad jokes, Phil’s humor remained sharp and infectious right up to the very end. While there will be no immediate service, a celebration of his life will be planned soon, complete with a keg per his request.
