Richard (Rich) Foley, 70, of Minier, IL, passed away June 10, 2025 at his home in Minier, IL. He was born on September 10, 1954 in Bloomington, IL to Roy Chapman and Dova (Hafley) Foley, Sr.
He is survived by his children Derek (Sara Gash) Foley of Le Roy, IL, Brian (Kenzi) Foley of Minier, IL, and Megan (Brandon) Vaughn of Bloomington, IL; his grandchildren, Brady, Skylar, Brilee, Stevie, Madison, Kendall, Alder, and Benett; siblings, Lois Prochnow, Jean Heck, Carolyn Hardesty, Susie Miner, Wanda Lasswell, and Sherron (Gene) Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dova (Hafley) Foley; and his siblings Louise Erickson, Betsy Crabtree, Roy Foley Jr., Bob Foley, and Mae (Jim) Dickerson. Rich grew up in McLean, IL. played baseball and basketball, and enjoyed woodworking, and being with his siblings and nieces and nephews.
He played baseball for the Corn Valley League and fast pitch softball. He volunteered as a firefighter with the Mt. Hope Funk’s Grove Fire Protection District and the Minier Fire Department. He worked for LifeLine Mobile Medics, Growmark, and Heartland. He started at Heartland Community College in 1998, where he taught CAD, drafting, machining (toolmaking), manufacturing, and engineering graphics, and retired in Spring 2020.
He coached for Olympia baseball and OPBA for many years. He dedicated a lot of his time and effort into helping prepare the fields for the baseball season.
He helped many friends and local businesses with the design and construction of their homes and businesses.
After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, photography, baking and cooking, building furniture, helping family and friends remodel their homes, spending time outdoors, golfing, and hunting.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the Minier Tap (121 S Minier Ave. Minier, IL 61759) from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
Memorial contributions can be made out to the “Richard Foley Memorial Fund” at Bank of Pontiac in Minier, IL for his grandchildren.
