Ricky D. Baker, 65, of Cerro Gordo, died May 9, 2025, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Rick was born March 15, 1960, the son of Ted and Virginia Baker. He was a member of the Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren.

Rick was the owner of the Garden Gate Floral in Cerro Gordo and later worked at Petals and Porch Post in Bement. Rick was a gifted floral and landscape designer and won awards for his floral design work. He was a big collector of glassware and many other things. He was known to be kind, caring and unselfish. He always gave freely to others. He had an amazing sense of humor, and laughter was a big part of who he was.

He loved his family deeply. His love often showed in his cooking in which he prepared food for many family meals and celebrations.

Survivors include brothers Jim (Debbie) Baker of Sebring, Florida, Randy (Jodi) Baker of Cerro Gordo, niece Andrea Hinton (Eddie Bond) of Decatur, nephews Matthew (Melissa) Baker, Joshua (Rose) Baker and family of Florida. He also loved his cats Skipper and Charlie.

His parents preceded him in death.
